Where are your thoughts at?

Everything begins with a thought,from the moment you wake up,you first think of what you will do before you do it.There is immense power in our thought life.Everywhere you go you hear phrases that speak of the power of thought or mind or will,so even the world recognizes the power of thought.

Have you ever found yourself stuck in a rud with a particular sin?No matter how much you try to change or love God or hear sermons on it you just cant seem to rid yourself of doing it.If you are in such a place in your life maybe it is time to look at your thought life.See what you focus on the most becomes the strongest.If you mind has not been renewed in a particular area of your life, than that will always be an issue.

Our thoughts hold great power.Paul wrote in Romans 1:2 that we should not conform to this world but be transformed by the renewal of our minds so that we may know the good and perfect will of God.Paul tells us that transformation only comes through  a renewed mind and when we have a renewed mind we know the perfect will of God.

Many times we as Christians have un-renewed minds in a particular area of our lives,whether it be finance,purity,obedience,etc.An un-renewed mind keeps us slaves to sin."As a man thinketh in his heart so is he" Proverbs 23:7.So we become our thoughts.If you are struggling with purity, what are the things you listen to,watch,think about?It is not enough to want to be pure,see abstinence from sex till marriage is the lowest form of purity. Many times we are pure in flesh, but not in mind,our mind go places where our bodies cant go, because we think purity is just in the flesh.Watching porn,reading erotic stories,watching sex scenes in movies ,listening to promiscuous songs are all the beginning  and basis of impurity.Once you indulge in such things it will not be long before your body follows.

You are creating an area for sin to take root and eventually act out on those thoughts.Learn to take your thoughts captive and bring them under Christ submission,I am not saying you will never have a tempting thought ,but the question is what to you do when that thought gets a hold of you?Do you run with it and play it out or do you bring it under submission,refusing to dwell and entertain it?Taking thoughts captive is no easy matter,it is an active choice we have to make daily and only through God's strength will we be able to take all evil thoughts captive.

Flee from all things that make you stumble,flee your own thoughts if you have to.Distract yourself with something productive,pray,praise and worship,but don't let evil thoughts control you.

Every day I struggle with taking my thought captive and most days I succeed, but sometimes my thoughts take me captive.I have to know that God's grace cleanses me of all my sin and He will pick me up when I fall down .Don't condemn yourself and stay down when you have fallen ,get up and run this race with endurance.Learn to take every thought captive and break the stronghold of sin in your life.

2 Corinthians 10 :5 "We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ"
