Melody of Silence

Today as I was preparing to do my quiet time with God, I was thinking about what songs I will play for worship.I love putting on music and just worshiping to God.It really helps me connect in prayer.But as I sat contemplating my song selection in the early morning hours, I was captivated by the sheer silence of the moment.There were no birds chirping,no cars hooting,not an insect to be heard.There was just a vase expanse of silence.

My first reaction was to fill the silence with music,but than I heard it;the sweet sound of silence,a melody so soothing to the soul that I simply sat and marveled at the symphony unfolding before me.I never appreciated nor recognized the the utter beauty of silence.That it held such a captivating power to set ones soul to rest.I finally understood what God meant when he said "be still and KNOW that I am God".

He knows the essence of silence and the secrets it hold.That so much more is understood and felt in the embrace of silence.Oh what a melody I heard as my heart soared and my soul took in the God of silence,the God who has answered me more with silence than words,saying more in His silence than I could ever comprehend.

Psalm 46:10

See I learned today that God speaks volumes in silence and that I need to learn to be still,to switch off the world,my thoughts, my very essence and simply get to know God in the silence.That I don't need to talk to God, but let Him have a say for once,even if He says nothing at all.

Silence is a gift so many of us still have to discover and master.To understand that words and song are not the only way to connect to God, but that He can be found in silence.
